The Ultimate UZ Supercharger Kit For Your Swapped Chassis. Bull Shark Vortech/Paxton Bracket

If you are looking to unlock real horsepower from your Toyota V8 or Lexus V8 Supercharged build, you have likely run into the ultimate roadblock: finding a high-quality, pain-free forced induction setup. Whether you are building a drifting machine, a street warrior, or an iconic cruiser like the Lexus SC400, the 1UZ2UZ, and 3UZ engine families are legendary for reliability, but notoriously tight on space.

Enter the next generation of UZ forced induction: the Bull Shark Vortech / Paxton Supercharger Bracket. Formerly referenced alongside developments like the Tiger Shark Bracket, this new mounting system fixes every engineering flaw of the past to deliver the best Centrifugal Supercharger solution on the market.

In this guide, we will break down why this UZ Supercharger Kit is the easiest way to make power, what blowers fit, and why a centrifugal setup destroys top-mount alternatives.

Why a Centrifugal Supercharger Beats Positive Displacement (Top-Mount) Blowers

For years, the go-to option for a 1UZ Supercharged2UZ Supercharged, or 3UZ Supercharged engine was a positive displacement supercharger mounted directly on top of the engine in the valley. While they look aggressive, they come with massive compromises.

Centrifugal Supercharger acts like a belt-driven turbocharger, offering massive engineering benefits:

  • Drastically Less Heat Soak: Top-mount blowers sit in the engine valley, absorbing immense engine heat while simultaneously compressing air. The Bull Shark bracket mounts your blower away from the block, ensuring the engine’s heat does not transfer into the head unit. Less heat means lower intake air temperatures (IATs) and much more efficient power.
  • High Efficiency & Power Delivery: Superchargers love longer runner lengths. While short runners (often under 3 inches on aftermarket top-mount manifolds) kill low-end power and choke peak performance, the factory UZ intake manifolds feature historically long runners. Keeping these long runners optimized for a centrifugal setup lets you easily surpass the 400whp barrier that tops out most positive displacement kits.
  • Turbo-Like Component Ecosystem: Because centrifugal superchargers route air similarly to a turbo setup, finding charge pipes, intercoolers, and bypass valves is simple and highly customizable.
  • Lighter Weight & Better Handling: The entire high-strength stainless steel bracket weighs just 7 lbs. When paired with a blower like the Vortech Vortech Si Trim, the combined weight is a mere 25-27 lbs. Because this kit places the blower low in the engine bay, it provides a perfectly low center of gravity to optimize chassis balance.

The Pain-Free Way to Boost Your 1UZ, 2UZ, or 3UZ

Most forced induction setups require an extreme amount of modification. If you’ve looked into alternative kits, you’ll find you have to modify or completely get rid of your front and rear factory coolant crossover bridges.

The Bull Shark UZ Vortech Supercharger Bracket is designed to be the cheapest, easiest, and most pain-free way to boost a UZ engine. All of the magic happens strictly on the front of the engine. There is no cutting, no welding, and no modifying the front water bridge required, and you don’t even have to pull the intake manifold or mess with the fuel system to get the bracket installed. The goal is simple: get you from garage floor to driving in 48 hours.

Furthermore, it is entirely A/C friendly. All components are engineered around your air conditioning compressor so you don’t have to sacrifice interior comfort (though VVTi engines may require a custom simple line modification to route around the bracket).

Engineered Specifically for UZ Swapped Chassis

The Bull Shark bracket was engineered primarily for UZ swapped chassis where front engine bay real estate is virtually non-existent. If you are dropping a UZ into a BMW E36, E46, Nissan S-Chassis (S13, S14, S15), or an IS300, you know that space between the engine and the radiator is tight.

The primary design objective of this UZ Centrifugal Supercharger Bracket is to shift the supercharger position cleanly to the side of the radiator. This eliminates radiator interference entirely, leaving you plenty of physical room for a proper cold air intake.

Market-Leading 240-Degree Belt Wrap (No More Slip!)

Belt slip is the absolute killer of supercharged power. If your belt slips, your boost drops. The Bull Shark kit features built-in hard adjustment points to move the idler closer to the supercharger pulley as you move down to high-boost pulley sizes.

This kit officially delivers the best belt wrap out of all supercharger kits on the market for the UZ family of engines.

  • Using a 5” supercharger pulley, this kit manages an incredible 240 degrees of belt wrap.
  • Using a tight 3” supercharger pulley, it maintains a 220-degree belt wrap.

This is easily more than 40 degrees of extra belt wrap over competing supercharger kits, ensuring consistent, reliable boost pressure all the way to redline.

Moving Past the Flaws of the Legacy “Fish Bracket”

In the early days of custom Lexus SC400 tuning, builders relied on the original “Fish Bracket” to attach a Vortech Supercharger to a UZ engine. To put it mildly, the Fish Bracket is an old, poorly made, legacy design.

Engineers at Adapt Lab built the Bull Shark kit specifically to remedy the classic issues of the Fish Bracket:

  1. Inaccurate Alignment: The old bracket lacked accurate mounting holes, forcing builders to manually grind down physical areas of the bracket just to make it sit flush against the engine. The Bull Shark features spacers precisely machined to within an accuracy of 0.05 mm for perfect drive-system alignment.
  2. Poor Belt Geometry: The original had sub-optimal idler pulley placement and terrible belt wrap.
  3. Upside-Down Clocking & Blower Failure: The Fish Bracket mounted the blower upside down. This aimed the vital oil drain holes at a 2 o’clock position. This caused absolute nightmare scenarios for older V1 and V2 generation gear-driven superchargers where the drain lines were forced into the wrong orientation. For modern self-contained units (V3 units), this upside-down layout meant the internal oil slinger could not distribute oil correctly, starving the internal bearings and gears, ultimately leading to catastrophic supercharger failure.

The Bull Shark bracket corrects this geometry completely, keeping your supercharger safely clocked and properly lubricated.

Complete Supercharger Fitment & Compatibility

The Adapt Lab kit supports a wide ecosystem of Counterclockwise (CCW) rotation blowers. Ensure your head unit is a CCW rotation unit, as it will not work with CW versions.

Supported Vortech Superchargers:

  • Vortech V1, V2, V3, V4, V5, V7
  • Supports multiple trims including Vortech S TrimVortech Si TrimVortech T TrimVortech Ti TrimVortech JT Trim, and the massive Vortech YSi Trim.

Supported Paxton Superchargers:

  • Paxton Novi 1200 & 1200SL
  • Paxton Novi 1220 & 1220SL
  • Paxton Novi 1500 & 1500SL
  • Paxton Novi 2200, 2200SL, & 2200X

Note: This kit requires the use of a standard fan clutch bracket rather than the hydraulic pump bracket found on select early 1UZ models (an optional factory fan bracket can be conveniently selected when purchasing the kit).
